Presented for the first time in 2013, the »Logix Award« is one of the most important prizes for German logistics properties. The prize was awarded to the »multicube rhein-neckar« of the pfenning group together with its planning office Krüger Consult GmbH. 

The award was created by the »Initiative Logistikimmobilien«. The aim of the initiative is to recognise the importance of logistics properties in the economy by presenting the award. A jury of high-calibre industry experts awards prizes to properties according to qualitative criteria »... that meet the requirements of users and investors to a high degree and are also characterised by urban development, ecological and social aspects.« 

In 2013, a total of fourteen companies were nominated for the "Logix Award". The jury assessed all logistics properties according to quantitative and qualitative standards. Criteria for the overall assessment included modern construction standards, multifunctionality, sustainability, accessibility and public participation. At the end of the decision-making process, two logistics properties were selected as winners. Right at the top of the podium: the »multicube rhein-neckar« - planned and developed by Krüger Consult. The logistics centre in Heddesheim impressed the jury of the "Logix Award" with its convincing multi-user concept, the platinum certificate it had already received from the DGNB and the integration of the interests of the local population and employees. 

Uwe Nitzinger, then Managing Director Sales & Marketing at pfenning logistics, architect Günter Krüger, Managing Director of Krüger Consult GmbH and Stefan Riechers, International Asset Management Europe at Union Investment  were visibly proud to receive the »Logix Award« in 2013 at a festive evening event at EXPO REAL in Munich. Uwe Nitzinger summarised on behalf of all those involved in the successful project: »Everyone involved fought for the goal with a lot of passion, commitment and steadfastness. This is a wonderful honour.« 

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) only assesses buildings according to the strictest criteria. For Krüger Consult GmbH, the collaboration with the DGNB began with the »multicube rhein-neckar« for pfenning group.

This project scored top marks for the interplay of ecological, economic, socio-cultural and functional qualities. With a floor area of approx. 200,000 sqm and a usable area of approx. 128,000 sqm, the logistics centre initially stands for impressive spatial dimensions. At the same time, however, it also demonstrated true greatness through the successful combination of economy and ecology – and redefined standards for future construction in the logistics sector. The multi-user concept of the »multicube rhein-neckar« focussed on high flexibility of use. It created synergies and opened up customised solutions for all logistics tasks. 

Europe‘s largest rooftop solar system saves over 5,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Thanks to an intelligently designed environmental concept, resources are consistently conserved and operating costs are sustainably reduced - and the supposed contradiction between ecology and economy is masterfully resolved. The building was awarded the DGNB platinum certificate with an overall fulfilment rate of 88.7% and an overall score of 1.21. To this day, it is one of the best-rated logistics properties. 

Since then, Krüger Consult's aim and concern has been to carry the concept of sustainability into other projects. Together with our clients, we have been able to carry out further successful certifications. Among the top ten DGNB ratings are 5 logistics properties planned by Krüger Consult alone.
